Harry Peiper Hollenbaugh, 78, of Halfway, Md., passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1934, in Newville, Pa., he was the son of the late Samuel Albert and Anna Jane Peiper Hollenbaugh.
Harry served in the U.S. Army during Korea.
He retired as a correctional officer from the Maryland Correctional Institution, Hagerstown, Md.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Harry was a member of Dixon Troxell Post 211 American Legion, Funkstown; AMVETS Post 10, Hagerstown; W.D. Byron Post 1936 VFW Hagerstown; and The Improved Order of Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84, Williamsport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Arline Shipley Hollenbaugh, in 2011.
He is survived by three stepdaughters, Patricia Ebersole of Maugansville, Md., Judy Hayes of Williamsport, Md., and Linda Bowers of Hagerstown; a stepson, Vernon French of Emmitsburg, Md.; a nephew and niece, Denny and Doris Norris of Hagerstown; and several stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Harry was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters, leaving him the last survivor of his immediate family.
The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, MD 21795 on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, with Pastor Stephen E. Wagoner officiating. Military graveside honors will be provided by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Ave., Frederick, MD 21701.
