Helen Christina Smith, 76, of Downsville, Md., passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md.

Born March 11, 1935, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Irving and Pearl Elizabeth Durbin Sigler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Smith, in 1973.

She was a 1953 graduate of Williamsport High School.

She was employed as a cook by the Red Byrd Restaurant, Improved Order of Red Men, Williamsport, and Saint James School before retiring.

She was a member of Downsville Church of the Brethren, Downsville.

Survivors include daughter, Debbie Kinzer and her husband, Dave, of Hagerstown; daughter, JoAnn Resau and her husband, Chip, of Downsville; son, Kenneth Smith and his wife, Dianna, of Downsville; son, Randy Smith and partner, James Polaha, of Downsville; granddaughter, Melissa Sigler of Hagerstown; granddaughter, Kaci Resau of Downsville; granddaughter, Jennifer Smith of Martinsburg, W.Va.; grandson, Gary Durboraw Jr. of Martinsburg; grandson, Jason Resau of Downsville; grandson, Jeremy Smith of Martinsburg; sister, Mary Smith of Downsville; sister, June Jamison of Sharpsburg, Md.; sister, Wanda Winters of Hagerstown; brother, Donald Sigler of Maine; sister-in-law, Anna Sigler of Greencastle, Pa.; brother-in-law, Rowland Litten of Hagerstown; brother-in-law, Donnie Daley of Greencastle; five great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Litten and Betty Daley; and four brothers, Howard Sigler, Ralph Sigler, Layton Sigler and Russell Sigler.

Services will be private.
