James Robert "Bubba" Ruppenthal, 52, of Hancock, Md., died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
Born Aug. 15, 1960, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Robert Garland Ruppenthal of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and the late Anna Lucille "Ludie" Steiner Ruppenthal.
He was a 1978 graduate of Hancock High School and had worked as a punch out supervisor in the construction business.
Jimmy loved to play golf, especially at Myrtle Beach, S.C., had been a little league coach and was a member of Webster B. Harrison Sons of the American Legion Squadron 26 in Hancock where he had served as both treasurer and adjutant.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Roberta Lee "Bobbi" Steiner Ruppenthal of Hancock; one daughter, Mindi Aleda Smith and her husband, Nathan, of Norfolk, Va.; two sons, Jacob Robert Ruppenthal and Matthew James Ruppenthal, both of Hancock; two brothers, David Todd Ruppenthal of Hancock and Timothy Brian Ruppenthal of Hagerstown; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Lynn Ruppenthal.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, with Pastor Jack Hiles officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home which will be open from 2 to 8 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
