JoAnn E. (Reese) Lum, 80, of Boonsboro, Md., went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, Oct. 6, 2012, at her home.
Born June 19, 1932, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late James Raymond and E. Marie (Foreman) Reese Sr.
JoAnn was a member of Sharpsburg Bible Church.
She was a homemaker in recent years and had managed Fleisher’s Clothing Store on the square of Hagerstown for a number of years, retiring in 1990.
Joann enjoyed teaching Sunday school and loved music. She sang most of her life with the Reese Sisters. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano.
JoAnn was also a volunteer at Reeder’s Nursing Home in Boonsboro, where she sang and played the piano for the residents.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard Lum Sr.; two sons, Richard Lum Jr. and wife, Terry, of Boonsboro, and Joel Lum and wife, Teresa, of Hagerstown; a brother, Donald Reese of Greencastle; three sisters, Shirley Motz of Waynesboro, Nancy Taylor of Hagerstown and Rebecca Higman of Mount Lena; and seven grandchildren, Joshua, Alyssa, Chaney, Sarah, Kathryn, Jeremy and Rachel Lum. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Raymond Reese Jr.; and a sister, Catherine (Reese) Newcomer.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Gene W. Renner will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the funeral home.
