John Coty Miller, 22, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at the University of Maryland Hospital.
Born Monday, Dec. 31, 1990, in Hagerstown, he was the son of John Thomas Miller of Harrisonburg, Va., and Kimberly Sue (Baker) Haines of Hagerstown.
He graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 2008 and later attended Kaplan University. He had numerous jobs throughout the area. Coty loved the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed snowboarding, playing chess, basketball and baseball. He especially enjoyed going to bingo and playing rummy with his grandmother, and playing the slots. Coty had a great spirit and enjoyed sharing it with everyone he met, he will be truly missed.
He is survived by his two sisters, Kiley C.N. Miller and Zoie Elgin-Miller both of Hagerstown; five brothers, Karl G. Schulte, Casey L. Thomas, Malaki Moats, Joshua Shingleton and Zachary Miller all of Hagerstown; maternal grandmother, Madeline M. Mazingo of Hagerstown; maternal grandmother, Cathy Baker of Hagerstown; paternal grandparents, John and Helen Miller of Harrisonburg; nieces, Ashiah, Kyndel and Pyper; and his girlfriend, Amanda S. Socks.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert C. Baker.
A memorial gathering will be held Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Western Enterprise Fire Hall, 526 Washington Square, Hagerstown, followed by a reception.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
