Katye Ruth Sheffield Bell, 88, of 941 Noland Drive in Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 1, 1923, in Penelope, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Lee Dolph and Vera Adell Campbell Sheffield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell H. Bell.
She was employed in office administration as a bookkeeper by C. Earl Brown.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Randolph Chapter 74, in Elkins, W.Va.
She was a lifelong member of Church of Christ on Leitersburg Pike.
She is survived by four sons, Larry Alton Bell and wife, Deanna, of Bridgeport, W.Va., Brian Kent Bell and wife, Cheryl, of Hagerstown, Thane Craig Bell of Little Orleans, Md., and Mark Brook Bell and wife, Christine, of Vienna, Va.; one sister, Dorothy Pearl McKinze of Salem, Ill.; grandchildren, Jessica Bell and Kenan Bell, both of Lynchburg, Va., Brian S. Bell of Greencastle, Pa., Dwane Bell of Little Orleans, and Nikki Bell of Hagerstown; two great-grandchildren, Violet and Sophia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Iris Nell Hughes and Emma Jean Rodriguez Gore.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Larry Bell will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
