Mrs. Linda L. (Wyman) Record, 78, of Clear Spring, Md., died at 5:14 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at her grandson's Greencastle, Pa., home.
Born April 5, 1933, in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Hilda (Baker) Wyman.
She spent her early years in the Boston area.
Mrs. Record and her husband, Walter P. Record, were married in June 1952 in Hyattsville, Md. They lived in the Montgomery County suburbs of Washington, D.C., before moving to their Clear Spring home in 1984. Mr. Record died in 1985.
Mrs. Record was an accomplished horticulturist. She competed with her various floral species in the Washington, D.C., area, winning many awards for her begonias, roses, hostas, daffodils and others, many of which she would sell at her stand at the Farmers Market, Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Record also served as a judge for many plant competitions.
She was a member of American Begonia Society, American Hosta Society and National Daffodil Association. She also served as a member and past officer of Eastern Star in the D.C. area.
Mrs. Record is survived by her daughter, Carol Warren, Mercersburg, Pa.; a son, Gregory Record and his wife, Nancy, Germantown, Md.; a granddaughter, Tiffany Coble and her husband, Devin, St. Thomas, Pa.; five grandsons, Alan Warren and his wife, Rachel, Wasilla, Alaska, Josiah Warren and his wife, Kendra, Greencastle, Michael Warren and his wife, Leah, Houston, Texas, David Record and his wife, Jennifer, Frederick, Md., and Robert Record and his wife, Abrehet, Germantown; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Zumbado and her husband, Juan, North Potomac, Md.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle.
