Martha Jean Ayers, 70, of 9706 Driftwood Lane, St. James Village, Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born Nov. 5, 1942, in West Union, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Paul Eugene and Neva Akins Martin.
She was employed by MCI in Hagerstown, as a commitment officer.
She enjoyed many hobbies, such as quilting, crafts, gardening, and video games. She had an extensive bear collection.
She is survived by one son, Julian V. (Jay) Ayers III of Hancock, Md.; one daughter; a granddaughter, Angelique E. L. Ayers; and a grandson, Alexander V. Ayers, both of Hancock; two brothers, Danny L. Martin of Bristol, W.Va., and John Paul Martin of Pennsboro, W.Va.; one niece; one nephew; and a best friend, roommate and companion, Mary (Pepper) Probst of Hagerstown.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Diana Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
