Marvin Walter Bishop Sr., 91, of Hagerstown, Md., died on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born June 10, 1921, in Pearre, Md., he was the son of the late Walter Adison and Victoria Creek Bishop.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian E. Bishop, on Nov. 10, 1992.
He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft for 21 years, and Potomac Edison for 24 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a life member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion, Post 42, Hagerstown Moose 212, and Redmen Conococheague Tribe 84.
He is survived by one daughter, Donna Hovermill of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Bishop of Jefferson, Md.
He was preceded in death by one son, Marvin W. Bishop Jr.; two sisters, Mary McAfee and Betty Husted; and one brother, Melvin L. Bishop.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Linda Alessandri will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Morris Frock American Legion, Post 42.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home one half-hour prior to the service.
