Ronald E. Mumma, 61, of Mercersburg, Pa., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Hershey Medical Center, holding the hand of his wife and best friend, Deb.
Born Aug. 30, 1951, in Washington, D.C., he was the only child of the late Elwood (Red) and Margaret (Peggy) Mumma.
After high school, Ron was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1973. His love of country, and all military personnel who serve it, continued until his last breath.
Ron then worked at Chas Pfizer as an operator mechanic from 1973 to 1977. He was an equipment operator and mechanic at Fairchild Republic Co. from 1977 to 1984, as well as a manager and technical consultant for Snelling and Snelling in 1984. He held the position of facilities manager at MKI Limited Partnership from 1985 to 1987, and then continued the same position at Top Flight Airpark until 1988. Ron's remaining years were spent as warehouse foreman for the Department of State Household Effects in Hagerstown.
Ron will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Deborah Eddy Mumma; his daughter, Tina Marie Wallech of Waynesboro, Pa.; son, Ronald Scott Mumma of Hagerstown; stepdaughter, Kristen Liegh Mumma and son-in-law, Sheldon Mumma, of McConnellsburg, Pa.; and stepdaughter, Allyson Dawn Yeager and son-in-law, Tommy Yeager Jr., of Mercersburg, Pa.
Ron greatly loved his family and was especially proud of his nine grandchildren, Jacob Wallech, Kolton and Emmersyn Mumma, Aaron, Alex, Dalton, Braydon and Gavin Mumma, and Jordyn Yeager.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at 6 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Ltd., 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour before the service.
