Ruth Olive (Barney) Strother, 90, of Keedysville, Md., passed from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at her son’s home in Kernersville, N.C.
Born on Oct. 22, 1921, in Jefferson, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Annie Catherine (Everett) Barney. Her husband of 67 years, Charles M. Strother, preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2009.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Ruth is survived by four children, Charles M. Strother Jr., James Strother, John Strother and his wife, JoAn, of Kernersville, and Bonny Stotler and her husband, Les, of Keedysville, Md.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters; four brothers; and one grandson.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Md. Elder Raymond H. Woolsey will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery at San Mar in Boonsboro.
Family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the funeral home.
