Sandra McCraw Lewis, 77, of 369 Thames St., Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012.
Born in Lynchburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lyle McCraw and Bertha Lawhorne McCraw of Madison Heights, Va.
She was a 1952 graduate of Madison Heights High School, and a 1955 graduate of Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at Virginia Baptist Hospital until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church in Lynchburg until she moved to Maryland in 2003. She currently was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church, Williamsport, Md.
Sandra is survived by two sons, Kendall B. Lewis and wife, Deborah, of Bristow, Va., and Stuart M. Lewis of Hagerstown; two daughters, Marcia (Marty) L. Nixon and husband, Jerry, of Forest, Va., and Cheryl L. Cooper and husband, Wesley, of Chambersburg, Pa.; one sister, Gerry McCraw Harvey of Glen Allen, Va.; one brother, Hale A. (Buddy) McCraw and wife, Maxine, of Bedford, Va.; four grandchildren, Erin N. Geiger and husband, Mark, Drew C. Nixon, Matthew C. Lewis and Cameron D. Lewis; two step-grandchildren, Kelly and Casey Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church. A reception will follow the service. A private burial will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park, Lynchburg.
