Steven James Harrison, 55, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at his home in Hagerstown, Md.
Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Betty Ellen Harrison and Kenneth L. Harrison.
He worked at the Tortuga Restaurant at the Ramada Inn in Hagerstown and also at various corporate restaurants in the Tri-State area such as Hardee's, Roy Rogers and McDonald's Corporate.
He also worked part-time at the Samsonite outlet at the Prime Outlets in Hagerstown.
He was also part owner of the former gift shop, Desmond's Bittersweet Gallery in Hagerstown.
Most recently worked at Gladhill's Furniture in Middletown and Wolf's Furniture of Hagerstown.
He briefly volunteered for Reach Caregivers in Hagerstown, he had been retired since 2005.
He was a member of the Metropolitan Community Church of Hagerstown.
He is survived by one sister, Linda Eshelman of Germantown, Md.; and one nephew, Scott J. Eshelman and his wife Denise and their children, Steven, James and Sean of Mt. Airy, Md.; and also his beloved pet Emma.
He was preceded in death by a life partner of more than 30 years, Desmond McNew.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Hyde officiating.
Interment will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
