Feinstein’s proposed gun bill should not be passed

This is in response to Michael Delaney’s letter to the editor on Feb. 2. I looked up the Nazi Weapon Law of 1938 and I suggest everyone else do so, too. It basically did the following:

The Nazis classified guns for “sporting purposes.”

All citizens who wanted to purchase firearms had to register with the Nazi officials and have a background check.

Anybody in the Nazi party was exempt.

The Nazis had unrestricted power to decide what kinds of firearms could or could not be owned by private persons.

The type of ammunition that was legal was controlled by the bureaucrats.

People under 18 could not buy firearms or ammunition.

So, there might have been more guns than ever in private hands as long as they were in the Nazi party, which I would guess at the time was most of Germany — because in 1933, Hitler declared the Nazi party to be the only political party in Germany.

Everyone needs to read Dianne Feinstein’s proposed gun bill. It’s only 120 pages. It exempts the ruling class (government officials), military, ex-military, police and ex-police. It requires background checks, and it limits magazine capacity to 10 rounds or less.

Like I said, it’s only 120 pages. I know it should not get passed. Hopefully, people will see the similarity between the two, and we all know how well it worked out for the Nazi party.

Abortions kill far more in this country than guns

To the editor:

The American public is presently embroiled in a fight to ban guns because of some individuals causing mass murders and killing innocent children. There are no excuses for such action.

But wait, paradoxically, for the  past 40 years, 55 million children have been killed by mothers and health care specialists through abortions. Remember Roe v. Wade (1973)? While some might have been justified for medical reasons, the vast majority have simply been because someone didn’t want a child. What potential this nation lost because of these legal murders we will never know. How should we classify these folks?

This nation has killed more children for self-indulgent purposes than the military has lost in all the wars in which we have been involved. And, yes, these were children, real live beings with potential for greatness. So don’t tell me how bad guns are until you get straight morally with your legalized killing of innocent children.
