Estimated meter readings are too frequent
To the editor:
Fellow electric power customers, are you getting fed up with the meter readings for your service? I am, as are many of my neighbors.
In the past 12 months, we have had our meter read three times, and for nine months the readings have been estimated. If the estimated readings are too high, the power company is able to use the amount we overpaid money. We lose interest, what little that is, but they get to use our funds. I would suggest that you refer to the back of your statement where it explains how you can read your meter and report it by telephone or Internet, for those of you privileged to have a computor.
I have contacted the Public Service Commision for help in getting our meter read monthly or at least every other month. I urge other power customers to call 1-800-492-0474 and complain. Or maybe we should “estimate” our payments at whatever we can afford at the time. With today’s modern technology, it would seem rather easy to modernize the operation for reading meters.
