“I have a suggestion as to how to get more acceptable candidates to run for office. Let’s all stop contributing to these huge multimillion-dollar ‘campaign fund treasuries’ that politicians typically accumulate. Why should it take that much money to run for office? It shouldn’t, really. These huge ‘contributions’ are just another way of buying a politician, and it seems most of them are for sale, to one extent or another. If we could cut out that nonsense, then perhaps more open, honest and upright citizens could seriously run for office, based on their own merits, actual accomplishments and real qualifications, rather than who collected the most money.”

“I find it discouraging to see all the comments blaming the tea party for the situation with the debt-ceiling issues and the S&P downgrade. In reality, the U.S. should have been degraded long ago, due to reckless fiscal policy. If any citizen went to apply for credit with financials like the U.S. government, we would be immediately denied. Sorry, folks, we will not be borrowing and spending our way out of this one. It will not work. If you are not ready to tighten up your belt, then you need a reality check.”

“I want to thank all the callers blaming us tea partiers for the downgrade in the stock market debacle, because for the past 2 1/2 years, I’ve been depressed of the outrageous deficit spending and other Obama administration policies I think are doing great harm to our country, because especially since the debt-ceiling charade, I’ve felt powerless to stop them, but now, thanks to you, I realize that even though we don’t control even one branch of Congress, we have the power to destroy our country, our economy and your pension investments. So, now I feel great ... because of all the incredible power we, according to you, actually have.”

“You know the dollar isn’t what it used to be. All over the world, it’s down so low it isn’t funny. The economy isn’t any good. Our unemployment is at 9.1, but people say it’s really 17 percent, because a lot of people just gave up hope for looking for jobs. And where’s our president at? Martha’s Vineyard, one of the ritziest places in America.”

“I just would like to let everybody know that if they go to the local big, big store, they will find rubber bands made in the good ol’ USA. Let’s go shopping, folks, and buy out the rubber bands and keep one of our companies in business.”

“On July 4, during Longmeadow area yard sales, we allowed a gentleman to sell items on our property. If you purchased from him a paintball gun set, you were short three cartridges. We still have them, if you wish to come by and pick them up. We are south of Longmeadow Road, in Hagerstown.”

“Maybe I’m a grinch, but it seems to me that these 9/11 motorcycle people, instead of wasting all that gas, closing highways, holding up other people, could have spent that time and money volunteering for a worthy cause. I just think it was a complete waste of time.”

“In regards to the recent comment or epitaph for George Bushey, I feel that the fact that it was reiterated about his past was completely inappropriate. George did a lot of good things for the community and was a great citizen, a great father and a great husband, and it was very unfortunate, the article that was published that brought up some of his missteps in the past. We should remember our folks that passed as good people, instead of dredging up bad comments from the past.”

“Today was the first payday for Washington County public school teachers. Those teachers who have 20 years or more experience perhaps got a small stipend; however, we really did get a pay cut, because our paychecks were less than they were last year. So when people think Washington County public schoolteachers make a lot of money, they all should know that we basically got a pay cut.”

“You liberal parrots that repeat what is said to you by your socialist heroes currently in power, hear this: The most evil rich, that is, the top 2 percent, pay 40 percent of all income taxes. Fifty-one percent pay no — I repeat, no income taxes. Yet these bottom feeders feel that the rich don’t pay enough? I bet the ones who talk the most about the rich Republicans are the very ones who pay nothing. But they’ll jump on the socialist bandwagon, so that the handouts will keep flowing their way.”
