If that increase is reduced to 5 percent instead of the projected 7 percent, then it is called a ‘cut,’ even though the budget went up by 5 percent. The only real solution is to cut spending. Even if we confiscated 100 percent of the income of the rich, we would still be in debt. Stop the spending.”

But they will provide, on request and at no charge, copies of checks. So I suggest you check out other banks, because not all of them — here, anyway — are charging for check copies. My bank is a community bank, not a national, which may make a difference. And incidentally, when I looked into this I found that some companies no longer physically return checks, but do transactions by electronic transfer, which is apparently perfectly legal. So this is not all the fault of the bank.”
