“Thanks to Lisa Prejean on her article of Feb. 3 about ‘Clothing choices draw attention.’ Now, how about the way people dress for church? I have seen very short shorts, and tight, low tops. No respect. Our God should be honored with the best, and better, and people do have better.”

“I have a short question for everybody. What has that long runway done at the airport, has done for Hagerstown? Somebody please tell me what. Please put it in Mail Call.”
— Hagerstown
“This is on Friday the 3rd, Feb. 3rd’s paper, by George Michael, ‘It will never be enough.’ Mr. Michael, I believe what you say in this piece in the paper 100 percent. Our government is out of whack. So I wish everybody would read this piece in the paper because this green movement thing isn’t going to work. It’s just putting more pressure on people. Now you have an attorney that sued an automobile company, which she won her suit, now she wants to take on anybody that wants to sue because these electric cars didn’t put out what they said they were going to do. More power to her. I hope she wins every one.”
— Hagerstown
“I want to thank Will Robinson, the Herald-Mail news reporter who does the sports, for the Hagerstown Northstars ice skate team. He does a really great job on reporting. His articles are really good. ... Hagerstown, you don’t know what you’re missing if you don’t listen to the hockey game or come out to support the team. They’re a really good bunch of kids, and it’s really good for Hagerstown.”
— Hagerstown
“It seems Hagerstown has a new mascot. It is a pit bull. Everywhere you go, you see someone leading one, and at every place where there is mulch, there is evidence of the new mascot, a big pile of it. Why isn’t this ordinance ever enforced? Also, there is a big problem with people riding their bikes on the sidewalk. Why isn’t this law enforced? The police and the new auxiliary police who were just hired want another substation to go to. Maybe they should take the ones away that they already have and make these guys just walk around more and start enforcing some of this stuff. ... Maybe you should take Little Heiskell down from on top of City Hall and replace it with a new image, a pit bull riding a bike.”
— Hagerstown
“Thanks to the paper for the article in today’s Herald-Mail about the benefactors and neighbors who are helping Brenda Cole, out there on Dual Highway. ... There are so many good people out there that help make up for the couple of bad apples in this county.”
— Hagerstown
“I’m a lifelong resident of Hagerstown and Washington County, and I used Greyhound when I was in the service, and they were right in the paper, on Saturday. That Greyhound terminal is like the bouncing ball. I got an idea: That underused community — I guess it’s a commuter line, downtown, across from the REACH shelter, that’s an awful big parking lot. Let them put something down there for them. That’s better than just seeing one or two buses every now and then.”
— Washington County
“This is on Saturday morning’s ‘Shuttering of power plant symbolic of energy’s future.’ It’s on A4. The Herald-Mail editor wrote it. I think your article is pathetic. All you environmental people are a bunch of nuts, far as I’m concerned. You talk about coal-fired plants and everything. You’ll never get rid of coal. And if you think this solar power and wind power is so good and everything — and people can’t afford it anyhow — why don’t you put a wind power or solar panel up in your house, and let me know how it works?”
— Hagerstown
“The proposed bike trail should be a real rail-trail commuter service to Washington, with MARC trains from Hagerstown, Keedysville and Gapland, and a trail running alongside the tracks. They have Maryland MARC service in Brunswick, Frederick and in West Virginia. Why not here?”
— Southern Washington County
“A petition is not a secret ballot. It is not a vote. If the people signing the petition don’t want to stand up for their public request for a vote, they shouldn’t sign. This sounds like the proposal to put in unions by signing cards instead of having a vote. I don’t need to hide behind Del. Parrott when I sign a petition. If he were to get his way, we would have petitions against petitions — that’s a good idea. How many people would sign a petition supporting the Dream legislation? Maybe we wouldn’t have to vote again after our elected representatives already voted for it.”
