“The politicians really know how to solve a problem. The new solve-all-gun-problems law will not require a person to bother with the law if they are going to pass a gun to a relative. This after a mother teaches her mentally challenged son to use her assault rifle, then he kills her, 20 children, six adults and then himself. Way to go, government. What you have to do is keep guns away from people who are crazy, not everybody in the country. Lots of luck with that.”

“It’s as simple as this: More guns, more murders.”
— Greencastle, Pa.

“Let’s take a look at special-interest groups, two of them in particular. First of all, the new perspective on the NRA. What does the NRA cost you? Does it cost you taxpayers’ dollars? No, they’re a very strong lobbyist group, and they’re very good at what they do. Now, the other one is environmentalists, another strong lobbyist group. What does that cost you? As taxpayers, they are bleeding us dry. Anything associated with environmentalist groups is costing the taxpayers.”

“I wish that the county commissioners and the City of Hagerstown would take the money that they’re going to throw away on stadiums and all this stuff that doesn’t amount to anything, and put it into getting jobs in this town. Fairchild had to come into the back door. I guess that’s the only we’ll ever get anybody else to come in.”
— Hagerstown

“So the post office is going to stop Saturday delivery in August, with the exception of prescriptions and packages. Well now, that just makes them a target for druggies. They’ll now know that when they see a mail truck on Saturday, that it has prescriptions and packages.”
— Hancock

“I think the city ought to slow down, and the county ought to slow down. They keep wanting to build more buildings and more businesses for the county downtown, but yet they want to charge county residents more money for city services. I believe it is ridiculous and it should not be allowed.”
— Washington County

“I saw my first robin just a couple weeks ago. We went out for dinner and a movie. Won’t do it again. She was just a little bit too chirpy.”
— Hagerstown

“We have a county administrator, an assistant county administrator, an executive director, and who knows how many more in the county administrative office, and they cannot come up with an agenda for the newspaper? Come on, commissioners, wake up. We elected you to govern, not rubber-stamp public employees.”
— Washington County

“All you read in Mail Call are people complaining about something; government, gun control, etc. Just one day, it would be nice to read all positive remarks. Life is too short. ‘Be nice’ should be on the top of everyone’s bucket list.”
— Hagerstown

“My friends and I appreciate that The Herald-Mail is telling more of the truth about who owns the buildings and the money, like Paul Crampton charging ... Discovery Station rent throughout the years. ... And today, the proposals for the school board, the same two guys that tried to sell the downtown ballpark are now trying to sell the sites. Please, Herald-Mail, identify the owners before they’re given triple their money for something they bought to sell to people.”
