“Let’s talk about the caller from Williamsport’s view on President Obama and what he has done in the past three years. Who do you think gave the declaration to Panetta to take out Osama bin Laden, and the night of the State of the Union, to rescue those two hostages held in Somalia for three months? Did you give those declarations, or did Mickey Mouse? Of course not. It was our great president. You need to wake up. I would be ashamed to be so out of touch.”

“This is on the president’s State of the Union address. Everybody needs to do their fair share. When are the politicians going to do their fair share? They’re making millions of dollars a year. Why don’t they take a $20,000 pay cut, or something like that? The Congress and senators, they’re the ones who pass all these stupid rules. And as far as free market, free enterprise doesn’t work. You have to have regulations on these companies, for the simple reason of what the free market’s doing to us now. They sell everything to the highest bidder, and the poor man takes a beating.”

— Hagerstown

“Pertaining to the State of the Union address, I hear everything about the middle class and the rich. What about the people who only make about $30,000 a year, what benefit is it for them? They always talk about the middle class and the rich. No benefits for the man that only makes $30,000 a year? Would somebody please tell me something?”

“To the caller wanting to know why we don’t elect the right people to represent us in Washington: People have been saying that for as long as I can recall. Some politicians lie. Some mean well, but their ideas aren’t shared by their colleagues. We don’t know when we vote how well the candidate will represent us. It’s important to do the research on candidates prior to voting. Talk is cheap. Some people are good talkers, charmers, etc. Politics can be dirty business, and our best interest is seldom in their heart.”

“Well, once again, George Bush’s policies on terrorism are paying off. I know he’s not president anymore, but it’s due to what he did to get this thing started that another Navy SEAL team rescued a hostage. So thank him for everything. I know some of you people are going to ... give President Obama the credit, but I wouldn’t count on Obama to do too much of anything.”

— Sharpsburg

“My facts are correct, Waynesboro caller. It was Republicans who wanted a one-year payroll tax cut, but caved in to the Democrats and agreed to just a two-months extension, whatever you claim to the contrary. And Smithsburg caller, that cut can’t be a burden on working people when it cuts, not increases, their taxes, and  President Obama himself said it’ll create more revenue and even more jobs than the Keystone pipeline. Are you claiming he’s wrong? And I’m proud that the bill made Obama reveal his true environmental extremist, anti-domestic energy policies and agenda.”

“This is in reference to the article that ran regarding the astrologer who spoke in Shepherdstown, W.Va., doing predictions. Apparently, she has predicted some things correctly. She’s 85 percent right. She’s made some very, very serious predictions for June 24 and Sept. 19. I was just wondering if anyone else had any thoughts about this?”

“In response to the caller who wanted to know about nurse practitioners in Hagerstown, there are about 25 to 30 nurse practitioners in Hagerstown, who render a variety of services. And most patients who see nurse practitioners are very satisfied, so I was amazed to see your comment about your disgust in having to see a nurse practitioner when you go to a certain office or to urgent care. You should give them another try, be open.”

“To the person from Sharpsburg who thinks it’s OK for Marines to urinate on Taliban dead: This is three points you should’ve thought about. One, I’m sure you would not like it if the Taliban was urinating on Marines. Two, two wrongs never make anything right, and three, we as Americans are supposed to be better than the rest of the world. Because it’s a war doesn’t mean we have — as Americans  — need to lower ourselves to those standards.”

— Hagerstown

“I’ve been listening to all these Republican debates, and I have not heard one word about how they’re going to create jobs for this country or help this country out a bit. It’s all biting at one another about their affairs or past experiences. Not one thing about they’re going to do for the American people.”

— Hagerstown

“On the Republican debates, Mitt Romney and the other two men say that Newt Gingrich shouldn’t be elected president, for many reasons. And Newt Gingrich and others say that Mitt Romney shouldn’t be elected president, for many reasons. So they convinced me, and I will vote for President Obama. P.S., I wonder who the tea party people will vote for?”

“Could someone tell me where we could take newspapers to be recycled?”

“I have a suggestion for the doctors’ offices. When you have an appointment, you go in and they say the doctor’s running an hour, an hour and a half, two hours late. Why don’t they have some kind of beeper, where you could leave the office and maybe go get a snack, and they could let you know, give you about 10 minutes to get back there? I thought that was a good suggestion for the doctor’s office.”

“OK, all you state worker bashers, here’s the truth. I work for the state full time. After all the deductions are made from my paycheck — for taxes, insurance, and numerous furlough days that, for so many years that I’ve lost count, no raises for at least four years — I bring home $450 every two weeks. I do not have an easy job. I take good physical and emotional care of children, parents, the elderly and all state workers. Please stop the bashing of all state workers, and ask our governor to stop the furloughs, so I can feed my children, too.”

“This is to the city and the county. If you don’t get your head out from underneath the covers and soon starting seeing the light, the Suns are going to leave. And Winchester’s saying if we build it, they will come. If we build it, they will come.”

— Hagerstown

“For all of you jumping on the President Obama bandwagon to raise taxes on the super-wealthy: If you take the entire income for one year of the 8,000 wealthiest individuals in the U.S., starting with Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and working your way down, that money would run the federal government for only 18 days. And that is their entire income for the year, not just their taxes. Raising their taxes would perhaps run the government four or five days. The key is cutting spending, waste, entitlements and other nonsense.”

“When all these military people come home from all these foreign wars, we should keep them on the payroll until they are employed. That way we do not increase the unemployment rate. You can put these men and women on our border as border patrolmen, or send them to college, with pay. They will have to learn what has happened in this country while they were gone. Their present learned skill may not be what the homefront needs. But first, we must be sure that they are healthy, and they are military personnel until they are healthy and have a job. God bless our military.”
