“The government and everyone else, the county, they want us to recycle, but they don’t put any stipulations on how to recycle. Most people don’t even know how to recycle because it’s never been taught to them. It’s not being taught in our school system. You can throw trash anywhere, any type of way, and it’s not right. Our landfills one day will be filled. ... Companies that produce paper need to have all their papers recycled if they’re not using them, and companies that produce and recycle metal, plastic, need to be recycled in the correct way also. This is a major concern, and people need to take it more seriously.”
— Hagerstown
“Don Munson is a perfect example of why folks want change. He’s a perennial, professional politician.”
— Halfway
“This is in regards to the article I read in the paper yesterday about them doing — proposing a park there at the corner of North Locust and East Avenue. Come on, people, it’s only three blocks to Fairground Avenue. If you want to put a park in Hagerstown, why don’t you do it where other people would enjoy it that have a lot further area to go to? A lot of us don’t drive. We have to walk to these things. And how can the city council do it without the approval of the voters, the residents of Hagerstown?”

“I’m calling in regard to the article by Leonard Pitts in the newspaper on Jan. 12. Obviously, Mr. Pitts provides another example of being far, far out in the space in the left. To find him, you even need a starship to get out there. But reading it, it just causes me to chuckle. It’s hard to believe and so far out of sync that it’s unbelievable, and the sad thing is, some people who read his articles take him seriously.”

“I’m wondering why The Herald-Mail will not print anything in Mail Call concerning the Washington County government. What can The Herald-Mail be protecting?”
— Washington County
“Regarding the Frederick caller who refers to the Hagerstown caller as ignorant, regarding the payroll tax cut, what the Frederick caller (in praising the Republican one-year tax cut) doesn’t mention is this $180 billion bill would be the burden of the working families to pay, rather than the wealthiest and the big corporations, as it would not levy a surtax on income over 1 million. Further, it would accelerate the decision on Keystone XL oil tar sands pipeline and block a rule from the EPA on incinerators and boilers from taking effect. The bill would also repeal provisions in the health care reform law, plus other unacceptable items. Not much to be proud of in that bill.”
— Smithsburg
“Mail Call, we think that Kristin Aleshire should run for mayor because he is a good man.”
— Clear Spring
