“I want to know why the Marine sergeant who said something about President Obama is being kicked out of the service. He has a right to freedom of speech. It doesn’t matter if he’s talking about the president, or who. Where is the American Civil Liberties Union? Aren’t they going to step in and do something for this man? I think it’s unjustified.”
“I agree with the person who wrote in about Obamacare. They seem to think it’ll be free. Wait until they find out that their prescriptions which they’ve been taking are denied because the insurance company decides you don’t need it. And if you want it, you pay for it. When did the insurance companies decide what medicine you need? Isn’t that the doctor’s job? How much money does the insurance company give to the Obama campaign? They seem to be running the health system, not the doctors.”

“As an elderly senior citizen, I still follow sports, but it’s very frustrating today, with the plethora of sports reporting and — which I read in The Herald-Mail about the teams and I watch them on TV — the symbols, the logos, the trademarks, and they don’t identify the cities to which these belong. Like today’s list of the draft, I don’t know who a star is. I can guess a Viking or a Dolphin.”
“I’m calling about the blue recycling containers that they’re delivering. Well, it looks like everyone in Hagerstown has one, except for me and my neighbor. And we were given a phone number to call, but there was no way — you couldn’t leave a message and you couldn’t get a live person, so I don’t know what good it was. But we live here in the first block of East Washington Street.”
“So the Suns ask for some renovations to the existing ball park, and the mayor wants a new stadium downtown to increase attendance and promote downtown businesses. I think attendance will increase by providing winning baseball and good promotions, not by building a new park downtown. I remember the good-old days when there were a lot of complimentary tickets sponsored by businesses and the Suns, and a team who played good Baltimore baseball. Now when there is a winning team in Hagerstown, the good players are sent somewhere else to play.”

“Regarding the April 27 article concerning incentives paid to companies by the commissioners from the hotel-motel tax fund, a $50,000 payment to Direct Air for the three months that they actually operated from the airport. Absolutely ridiculous. And then the commissioners give the same sweetheart deal to Allegiant? At the very least, have a clause that if the carrier leaves within a year, they don’t get the money. It’s high time the commissioners treat tax money that they spend like it’s their own money.”
“As a result of collective bargaining, U.S. Postal Service employees pay less for their health and life insurance than other federal workers. ... For years, taxpayers have been told not to complain about waste by the postal service, that it receives no funding from the government. ... As a result of this extravagant spending, the USPS is nearly bankrupt. ... The U.S. Senate has approved an $11 billion subsidy so the USPS can continue their present inefficient operation for another year. Where is the tea party when we need them?”
“If taxpayers were given a line-item budget checklist to approve or not approve, things like the $100,000 to an ‘undisclosed financial company’ and the money to Bergman Eye Care to ‘locate in Hagerstown’ would not be paid. Please get more details, Herald-Mail. When people don’t want to explain, something is wrong. Most taxpayers would rather pay teachers, firemen and policemen more instead.”
“I read in this paper on April 27 that thanks to the ... health care law, $3 million will be rebated to policyholders. Do you think that maybe the insurance industry, that has one of the biggest lobbies in D.C., may have jacked up their rates to cover the rebates? My health insurance increased 17 percent last year. How about yours? Smoke and mirrors (are) a major tool for the Dems.”

“Regarding this new stadium, why not put the stadium out there where the fairground is? You already have your parking, your bathrooms are in, handicapped bleachers. And move whatever’s out there to where the stadium is now. Make it our skating park for the kids, and charge them a couple dollars. That would be more convenient than anything else. It’s already there.”
