“I’d like to comment for the person who called in the other day about you vote for this man, that you’ll lose your job and home, they don’t want to hear it. Well, that’s really American. This guy is our president of the U.S., and it seems to me that Mitt Romney called all his corporate buddies there in June and told them to tell their employees to vote for Mitt Romney, or they were going to lose their jobs. So, and now this coal guy, Murray, he is laying off 178 of his people. Real Americans, aren’t you?”

“I’m going to miss Congressman Bartlett. I was trying to get my Social Security disability and it wouldn’t go through, and the Social Security law group that was assigned to me could not figure it out, and his, Mr. Bartlett’s office figured it out. The Social Security law group forgot to file a form, and I almost lost my entitlement, to even go through on the third attempt, and if it wouldn’t have been for his office, I wouldn’t be getting disability. Thank you so much, Mr. Bartlett, and your office, for such good care, and you will be sorely missed.”

“I read with amusement, people complaining about the one-day-a-week trash pickup. Their bags are too heavy. Well ... instead of using the real big bags, buy a box of the smaller bags, and put two small bags out once a week. The smaller bags, normally, even the good quality ones, are cheaper than the bigger ones anyway. ... Two smaller trash bags will cost you less, most likely, depending on where you buy them. Much easier to carry.”

“A Hagerstown caller states that, ‘we just voted for things to continue as they were.’ Do you not read or listen? We replaced a congressman, three city council members and a mayor, and confirmed the Maryland legislature’s decision on four controversial issues. About 20 other districts sent their same congressmen back to Washington, but ‘we’ cannot be blamed for making those poor choices.”

“I think the reason the caller on Monday can’t find a charity who accepts collected pull tabs is because can manufacturers no longer make cans on which the tabs are supposed to be pulled off (to reduce the litter of small pull tabs.) ‘Pull tabs’ are now supposed to remain attached to the can or lid, so they can be recycled with the bigger article, and don’t find their way into the environment. I used to scuba dive in small ponds in the northeast in the ’70s, and routinely saw that the floor of the pond would be literally paved with discarded beer can pull tabs — no longer true since the manufacturers changed the design.”

“Another four years of taxes, groceries, national debt, gas, unemployment and utility costs going up, with pay, job opportunities and hope going down. Time for me to tighten my budget and cut back on things I can live without, or get cheaper items. I have friends in Greece, and we will soon be like them.”

Hunt, who was of the opinion he should be able to cast as many votes as he had dollars. Republicans do not want to govern, they simply want control. I am glad that the hearts and minds of everyday citizens cannot be bought.”
