Pharmaceutical companies had their taxes raised quite a bit by President Obama, and like everything else, it is passed on to the customer. Obama knew this, yet he claims to be trying to help lower prices. Manufacturers of medical devices have seen a big tax increase, which hurts seniors. GE got the medical device manufacturing contract, and now China has that.”

“Tim Rowland was right on with his Oct. 25 column on Meritus’ new policy on giving out patient condition. I recently was discharged from Meritus after major surgery. A friend stopped by that afternoon to see me, and was told by a stern, no-smile person at the information desk that ‘he is no longer a patient.’ My friend asked, ‘That’s good, right?’ Again a somber, robotic response, ‘He is no longer a patient.’ That kind of response is more hurtful than helpful.”
