“Hagerstown caller, concerning NASCAR, if Jeff Gordon’s so washed up, why is he in the top 10, and in the chase every year? If he keeps finishing in the top five to 10 drivers, that must mean the other 30-plus drivers are really washed up. So Jeff Gordon can drive until he says he can’t. Also, to all you callers saying the stadium can be renovated: It cannot be. Municipal Stadium does not have enough room to come up to minor league standards, so you cannot renovate it.”

“One person caused all these problems and made them worse. It was Harry Reid. He was determined to get elected, so he promised the Mexicans that they could go to college free, wouldn’t cost them a penny, called the Dream Act. This guy blocked more bills, they had 58 job bills, from Democrats and Republicans, sent up to the Senate, and he wouldn’t post them through, to make things worse. So I hope they’re, people are smart enough to know what’s going on.”
— Hagerstown
“Today I am buying pet supplies to help a co-worker fill her pickup truck, as she is heading up to N.J., in aid of the humane society there hit by Hurricane Sandy. I am so glad to help out the animals and people there.”
— Sharpsburg
“George Michael uses over 700 words to explain ‘what sunk the Romney ship,’ yet totally misses the mark. Meanwhile, Gov. Bobby Jindal summed it up in one short sentence: ‘Stop being the party of stupid.’ Finally, we have a Republican with both a brain and a backbone.”
— Hagerstown
“Social Security is paid for entirely out of the payroll tax. It does not affect the deficit at all, except when Congress loots the Social Security trust fund to pay for other things, or ‘grants’ us a payroll tax holiday to distract us from other problems. If anybody tells you that because of the deficit, your Social Security payments will have to be reduced, you know that he (1) is a Republican, and (2) is lying.”
— Chambersburg, Pa.
“What can be done to stop trash trucks from working all night in residential areas? Twice a week we are wakened in the middle of the night by the banging noise of trash trucks, and can’t go back to sleep. Why is this allowed? If I drove around the village blowing my car horn or slamming my car doors in front of people’s houses at that hour, I would be arrested.”
— Maugansville
“Mitt Romney wants to blame President Obama and his programs for his loss? Sounds like he’s doing what the Republicans say Obama does, in blaming Bush. The reason Romney lost is, it wasn’t 47 percent. It was 51 percent of the people felt that Obama had more identity with the middle class and those of us who are struggling day-to-day. Romney did not address that at all, and changed his position on so many things, so many times, he was like a top, or a pancake.”

“As a 15-year resident of Hagerstown, I am completely dismayed at the public’s response to the future. When the Washington County Hospital proposed to move from the city to Robinwood, the residents howled, and now it’s happening again, about the Hagerstown Suns. In the last decade, in both instances, residents in both two proposed locations have used their joint muscle to try to restrain future development. Such selfishness. Shame on them for watching out for themselves, while denying future development and growth. I hope the new mayor and the city council do the right thing, by not bowing to the naysayers but by boldly leading Hagerstown into this new century.”
— Hagerstown
“I’d like to know when these (individuals) are going to stop talking about where the president was born, and what lies he’s told about Libya and all this, and get down to work and do something for this country. I’m tired of all this baloney. Will they get to work and do something for us?”
