“In trying to find a parking spot at the South End Shopping Center, a car was starting to pull out. I went on by the vehicle. She nearly backed into me. She was blowing her horn and waving her hands at me. Lady, if you’re reading this, you need to pick up a driver’s manual of the Maryland law. Check for people and other cars before backing out of your parking space.”
— Williamsport

“What has happened to ‘Country First’ Sen. McCain’s character and integrity? He is not the same man that he was four years ago, and the change has diminished his reputation.”
— Rohrersville
“They claim that it was Columbus who discovered America, but lest a lot of people forget, it was the Indians who were here first. So therefore, it was the Indians, the Native Americans, who actually discovered America. Columbus never even really knew that there was such a place. So they need to rewrite the history books and all. And that’s the reason for the holiday, Thanksgiving. People should thank Native Americans, and respect them.”
— Greencastle, Pa.
“In response to all the negative comments about FEMA: These people travel from all over the U.S. to aid the victims of a major disaster. FEMA responders don’t have the opportunity to go to the comfort of their homes after a long, hard day. They’re there for the duration. I want to take this time to wish my son a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday. He’ll be doing ... which is helping people in their time of need. That’s why he’s in New Jersey on this holiday, with FEMA. God bless you, son. Hoping to see you at Christmas.”
— Williamsport
“Great letter to the editor in Tuesday’s paper, about Benghazi, by Jim Rosko of Boonsboro. Those of us with family members serving in the military are disgusted by President Obama on this issue.”
— Williamsport
“What is this harping about Susan Rice? She’s hardly been nominated yet, the president doesn’t even know if he’s nominating her. The GOP needs to take a step back. Lick your wounds and get ready for 2016. I’ve never seen a bunch of poor losers in my life. They’re complaining about somebody who hasn’t even been nominated. What is wrong with you people?”
— Hagerstown
“I’d like to know why anybody would read Leonard Pitts, when we have the Limbaugh brothers to tell us the truth.”
— South County
“Today, Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the paper, on houses for rent, I don’t quite understand this: ‘Four bedroom, pre-Civil War home.’ Now, get this: ‘No money down, $1,100 a month plus security deposit.’ Is not security deposit money down, or have I lost my mind? I don’t know, I don’t understand that. I think the American people are going crazy.”
— Smithsburg
“Waynesboro had a Christmas parade, and Greencastle had a Christmas parade. I think it’d be nice if Hagerstown had a Christmas parade. I know we have the Halloween parade, but I think a Christmas parade would be very nice, and the weather’s been so beautiful, it would have been perfect for one.”

“I just wanted to get my 2 cents worth in. I know the Democrats are hollering, especially President Obama, that the rich need to pay their fair share of taxes, and they’ve been critical of Mitt Romney. Mr. Obama is worth millions right now. When he went in, he was only worth a couple hundred thousand, two, maybe $200,000, but he’s already worth millions. So if you don’t believe it, check it out. And there’s the Kennedys and the Rockefellers, they’re worth millions. So let them pay their fair share of taxes, too. That’s all I have to say.”
— Hagerstown
“Del. Neil Parrott, the costly petition king, needs to clean up his election debris. Many of those who voted against the three ballot questions still litter the area, especially in West Hagerstown and Maugansville. Really tired of seeing that.”
