“I think The Herald-Mail needs to do a story on why the county hasn’t moved into the former Home Federal building. As I recall, when the county purchased the property, the county officials said the county would start occupying that building within six months. It’s now four years later and it’s still vacant. I definitely think there is an interesting story behind the reason, and the public needs to know why.”

“Kudos to Allen James from the Sharpsburg fire department. Congratulations for him speaking up in the meetings, and I can understand why the Sharpsburg fire company runs like a fine-oiled machine.”
— Boonsboro
“President Obama is not only an expert at playing the blame game and blaming everybody else but himself, he’s also very good at ducking questions and not being able to answer the questions that are being asked. Of course, the mainstream media will always throw softball questions to him, because they’re in his corner. But Americans, wake up to this guy.”
— Hagerstown
“I would like the name of the sculptor who made the bronze statue of Cal Ripken Jr., for the Orioles Hall of Fame. I’d really appreciate it if somebody knew his name and you could put it in Mail Call for me.”
— Falling Waters, W.Va.
“OK, Republicans, when is Mitt Romney going to tell us how he is going to do things? I guess most of the millionaires spent most of their money on his campaign, so they can’t create jobs. But he can tell those Republicans sitting on $2 billion that they can hire, and if he gets rid of Obamacare, if he’s going to, is he going to get rid of Romneycare in his own state? If he starts a war — and he will start a war — is he going to tell us how he’s going to pay for it? And by the way, they haven’t told how they paid for the last two wars.”
— Hagerstown
“I thought it was wonderful to see the Tea Party finally come out with something against our local government. More needs to be done.”
— Hagerstown
“The last time I took my newspapers and other recycles to ARC, I had to unload at their work area. I never saw so many happy people working together. Our elected officials and public employees could learn a lot from this ARC group.”
— Hagerstown
“I’m reading Tuesday’s Mail Call. The person, gentleman, I guess, stated that Penny Nigh is for the stadium, so he’s going to vote for her. Well, that’s pretty amazing. When did she switch sides? She wasn’t for the stadium earlier.”
— Hagerstown
“This goes out to the young person looking, about their mother on a fixed income, with a natural gas bill. The $10.97 is a maintenance fee on the account, to keep the account open. That’s what it is. I’ve already had this happen to me. I pay it every month, during the summertime.”
— Hagerstown
“Hagerstown’s getting like the White House. There’s no transparency, such as the stadium, and the second one is, such as the land just bought for the new schools. There’s no transparency here, but everybody knows there’s something wrong with that picture.”
