Thumbs up to Pennsylvania lawmakers who enacted a ban on texting while driving that went into effect Thursday. Hopefully this effort — which makes texting while driving a primary offense — will make drivers of all ages think twice before picking up their phone while behind the wheel.
Thumbs up to Lisa Key, circulation manager at the Washington County Free Library, for being named 2012 Outstanding Paraprofessional by the Maryland Library Association. Key, who has worked at the library for more than 30 years, has “made the library and our community better places to live, work and play,” according to Mary Baykin, library director.
Thumbs up to Zach Shoemaker, Williamsport High School wrestler, who won the Maryland Class 2A-1A 160-pound championship on Saturday. Shoemaker finished his senior season 40-0.
