( January 10, 2013 ) Asian Former Japonais chef Gene Kato is channeling the Japanese art of robata grilling at Sumi Robata Bar (702 N. Wells St.), due to open any day now in River North along with a basement lounge called Charcoal Bar. In the same neighborhood, look for fine-dining Chinese restaurant Lao 18 (18 W. Hubbard St.) coming soon from Chinatown powerhouse Tony Hu. Meanwhile, former Saigon Sisters chef Matt Eversman is readying dishes such as whitefish with grilled watermelon and kimchee (pictured) for his East Asian-inspired restaurant Oon (802 W. Randolph St.), projected to open in February in the West Loop. |
