( Sun Sentinel, File ) Aurora Francois is the first Haitian-American to serve as principal of a regular public school in Palm Beach County. She moved to South Florida from Haiti when she was 17 and was teased for not speaking English. She didn¿t let it deter her. The daughter of a minister and a homemaker, she¿s a graduate of Florida Atlantic, Nova Southeastern and Lynn universities. In 2007, she was named principal of Barton Elementary School in Lake Worth. ¿Hope inspires in any language,¿ she said. |
