Former Northern State men's basketball coach Don Meyer will be nationally honored during Final Four weekend in Houston.

The now special assistant to the NSU president will receive the Guardians of the Game Pillar Award for Leadership from the National Association of Basketball Coaches at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Cullen Theater in the Wortham Center.

Meyer, the all-time NCAA men's coaching leader with 923 wins, is being honored for his leadership, courage and inspiration. Still one of the nation's top clinicians, Meyer has received several other prestigious awards: the 2010 Coach John Wooden Keys to Life Award; the 2010 John W. Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame; and the 2009 Jimmy V Perseverance ESPY Award.
