1986 - Bristol natives Don Oberle and Julie Brownell won their third straight titles in the Pepsi Free 10K Road Race in Aberdeen
1991 - Aberdeen Central athletes Elissa Backous, in the long jump and 300-meter hurdles, and Eric Kline, in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, were each two-event winners at the Eastern South Dakota Conference track and field meet.
1996 - The trifecta of Big C Policy, Secret Bea Lady and Straight Equalanight paid $726.80 in the ninth race as the American Legion Pari-Mutuel horse races got underway at the Brown County Fairgrounds in Aberdeen.
2001 - Luis Rivas singled home the winning run in the 11th inning, lifting the Minnesota Twins to a 5-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
2006 - Mark Loretta drove in three runs with four hits and Tim Wakefield scattered six hits and struck out nine over six innings to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 5-3 victory over the New York Yankees.
2010 - Hilary Krein of Eureka-Bowdle was a three-event winner in leading her team to the girls' team title at the Eureka Lions track and field meet. Krein won the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Eureka-Bowdle also captured the boys' team title.
