Bismarck held off a late Aberdeen rally and held on for a 5-4 North American Hockey League victory over the Wings Saturday at the Odde Ice Center.
The Bobcats took a 4-1 lead through two periods before the hosts chipped into the lead with back-to-back goals from Zach Kraft, pulling to within 4-3 with 13:32 remaining in the game.
Bismarck’s Adam Knochenmus padded the Bobcats’ lead with his second goal of the game five minutes later. Peter Krieger notched a power play goal for the Wings with 2:15 left, but the hosts could get no closer.
Aberdeen outshot the Bobcats for the second straight night, casting 36 shots at the Bismarck goalie on Saturday after sending 47 at the Bobcats’ net on Friday. Another positive for the Wings included converting on two power play opportunities in three chances. Justin Parizek’s goal to start the game came with a man advantage with Krieger on the assist.
The Wings fell to 8-14-1 with the loss. Aberdeen will be in action again next weekend as it travels to Brookings Friday and hosts Minot on Saturday.
