Huron boys’ basketball coach Tim Buddenhagen said he is lucky to be alive after suffering multiple heart attacks Friday and getting a stent to open up a clogged artery.
The 49-year-old told Jeff Duffy of KOKK radio that looking back, his symptoms started more than a month ago. Buddenhagen is an avid long-distance runner, completing the Chicago marathon two months ago. He said there is minimal damage to his heart due to his conditioning.
He was able to return to practice Monday night, but he knows there are restrictions on what he can do. Buddenhagen plans to be on the bench when the Tigers open at home Friday night against Pierre.
