Binford wins first game
BURLINGTON, N.C. — Hagerstown native Christian Binford picked up his first professional victory on Monday night, pitching Burlington to a 5-3 victory over Pulaski in the Appalachian League.
Binford (1-1, 2.57 earned run average) went six innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs, all in his last inning of work. He walked none and struck out four.
Burling is a short-season afilliate of the Kansas City Royals.

Gary Brown 5-Miler on Aug. 25
The 31st annual Gary Brown Memorial C&O Canal 5-Mile Run will be held Aug. 25, starting and ending at Riverbottom Park in Williamsport.
Race-day registration and packet pickup starts at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8.
The registration fee is $25 (or $15 for students) by Aug. 15 and $30 (or $20 for students) after Aug. 15 and on the day of the race. All finishers will receive a T-shirt and awards will go to the top overall and age-group finishers.
