The only year South won its first five games was 1962, when the Rebels finished the season 9-0. ... The Falcons are off to their best start since 2005, when they won their first six games. ... Isiaha Smith ran for 162 yards in the win over Thomas Johnson, with 102 of those yards coming in the fourth quarter. ... Brandon Jackson threw three TD passes — two to Teon Maeser, the other to Jakerian Jones. ... Jones had three interceptions and returned two for touchdowns that were called back. ... Kirby Carmack threw four TD passes for Poolesville in its comeback win over Walter Johnson. ... Nikolay Henze rushed for 137 yards.

Last week: The Railroaders beat Smithsburg, 27-20. ... The Hubs beat Fort Hill, 54-16.

Notes: The Hubs have won seven of the last 10 games against Brunswick. ... Brunswick QB Colin Nusbaum completed 17 of 28 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown — the game-winner to Blaine Price — in the win over Smithsburg. ... Nusbaum had been averaging nearly 350 yards per game. ... Jensen Foster ran for 97 yards and two TDs. ... The 54 points the Hubs scored against Fort Hill was by far the most ever scored by North in the 42 games in the series. ... Isaiah Keyes ran for 138 yards and two TDs and Kyle Hewlett added 73 yards and 2 TDs in the win over Fort Hill. ... Tre Anderson scored three TDs, including kickoff returns of 86 and 83 yards. He also caught a TD pass from Nick Karlen.
