WILLIAMSPORT —The Williamsport Wildcats football team had two reasons to celebrate on Friday night.
For one reason, it was Senior Night at Williamsport High School. The Wildcats paid back the hometown support with their first win of the season in their regular-season finalé, 32-7 over the Clear Spring Blazers.
Williamsport (1-9) is 9-0 against Clear Spring (3-7) since the first meeting between the two schools in 2004.
Junior Jack Kelly caught three touchdown passes from senior quarterback T.J. Boyer and added a touchdown run to lead the way for the Wildcats.
Clear Spring got on the scoreboard first 11 seconds into the second quarter when senior quarterback Ryan Aaron broke through right tackle for a 5-yard touchdown run. Sophomore kicker Glendon Mills added the extra point for a 7-0 lead.
That wound up being the Blazers’ only points.
Just 1:39 later, Boyer fired a 69-yard touchdown pass to Kelly down the right sideline and senior kicker Ryan Shoemaker added the extra point as Williamsport tied the score at 7.
The Wildcats took the lead, 13-7, with 3:15 remaining in the third quarter when Kelly broke loose on the right side for a 27-yard touchdown run.
Just 2:30 later, Williamsport extended its lead to 19-7 when Boyer threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Kelly along the right sideline.
With 3:30 remaining in the fourth, Boyer tossed a 6-yard touchdown pass to Kelly on the right side and Shoemaker kicked the extra point to make it 26-7.
Just 2:01 later, junior Casey Shank broke through left tackle for a 13-yard touchdown run for Williamsport’s final points.
Boyer finished the evening with 195 passing yards to go with 87 rushing yards on 15 carries. Kelly ended up with 94 rushing yards on only eight carries, and added 95 receiving yards on his three touchdown grabs.
