Williamsport’s Nick Miller leads the way with his No. 2 ranking at 106 pounds, while teammate Bryan Davis is No. 14 at 126.
North Hagerstown and Boonsboro have three ranked wrestlers each. For the Hubs, Brendon Colbert is No. 8 at 132, Amont Hawkins is No. 14 at 220 and Antonio Rosario is No. 20 at 182. For the Warriors, Davon Clark is No. 19 at 152, Dalton Hawkins is No. 21 at 132 and Charles Anoman is No. 24 at 126.
For South Hagerstown, Isaiah Brooks is No. 14 at 106 and Marquil Holt is No. 19 at 285.
Those rankings were released Wednesday.
In the West Virginia Wrestling Coaches Association/wvmat.com state polls, released Thursday, four local wrestlers are ranked No. 1 — Washington’s Tyler Cross (132) and Ashby Heath (220) and Musselman’s Cody Spinks (152) in Class AAA and Berkeley Springs’ Matt Parkinson (220) in Class AA-A.
Other ranked wrestlers in Class AAA include: Hedgesville’s Mike Cicchino (fifth, 145); Musselman’s P.J. Dolan (sixth, 113), Bradley Derito (fourth, 120), Todd Williams (eighth, 126), Kody Kernan (fourth, 132), Danny Arndt (seventh, 160) and Derek Estep (seventh, 220); and Washington’s Ty Reynolds (fourth, 113), Dylan Cerevalo (third, 160) and Zane Bradbury (sixth, 170).
Also for Berkeley Springs in Class AA-A, Billy Wilson is No. 6 at 126, while Ben King is No. 8 at 106.
In the Harrisburg Patriot-News PIAA District 3 rankings, released Thursday, Chambersburg’s Tanner Shoap is No. 1 at 113, while teammate Garrett Hammond is No. 2 at 152 in Class AAA. For Greencastle-Antrim, Cody Carbaugh is No. 3 at 113, while Wyatt Binkley is No. 4 at 106, also in Class AAA.
In Class AA for James Buchanan, Austin Tucker is No. 2 at 132, while Casey Glunt is No. 3 at 152.
Chambersburg’s Hammond, a senior and returning state champ, is ranked 13th in the nation at 152 by InterMat. He has signed a letter of intent with Penn State, the two-time defending NCAA team champion.
INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
The new year begins with the MVAL championships at Hagerstown Community College.
The MVAL small-school meet, which includes Boonsboro, Clear Spring, Smithsburg and Williamsport, will be held Friday, beginning at 4:15 p.m.
The MVAL large-school meet, which includes North Hagerstown and South Hagerstown, will be held Saturday, beginning at 1:45 p.m.
