MEN’S BASKETBALL
CATONSVILLE, Md. — Antonio Jenifer had 17 points, four rebounds and three steals for Hagerstown Community College in a 75-69 victory over Catonsville in a Maryland JuCo Conference game Tuesday night.
Antwan Pittman had nine points and five rebounds, and Christian Leach made three 3-pointers in the final four minutes and added six rebounds for the Hawks (6-0, 2-0).
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Fairmont State 80, Shepherd 67
FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Kaitlyn Snyder scored 22 points and added eight assists to lead Fairmont State over Shepherd University in a West Virginia Conference game.
Tiffnay Nicholson had 16 points and Hailey Garrett added 13 for the Lady Falcons (2-2, 1-0).
Emily Daniel had 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lead the Rams (1-2, 0-1). Rachel Johnson had 16 points and Alex Tamez scored 14.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Broadfording 45, Highland View 33
Jade Boone scored 24 points, and Broadfording (1-1) pulled away by outscoring Highland View 20-9 in the second half of the Lions Classic consolation game.
Wendy Anyona led the Tartans (0-2) with 16 points, 14 rebounds and four steals. Sarah Roberts added nine points, five rebounds and four steals.
BOYS BASKETBALL
St. Maria Goretti 106, Washington Christian 43
OLNEY, Md. — Tyrus Fleetwood scored a game-high 22 points to lead St. Maria Goretti to a season-opening win over Washington Christian Academy.
Martin Geben had 16 points and eight rebounds, Toby Christensen had 14 points and five steals, Ameka Akaya had 10 points and Forrest Buterbaugh added eight points and nine rebounds for the Gaels (1-0).
Highland View 60, Frederick Force 48
Hunter Sorenson scored a game-high 19 points to lead Highland View Academy to its first win of the season with a victory over Frederick Force in the consolation game of the Broadfording Lions Classic.
Arthur Thomas had 18 points, 21 rebounds and six blocks, and Justin Osoro added 15 points and 17 rebounds for the Tartans (1-1).
BRIEF
Hub City softball
The Hub City Men’s Slo-Pitch Softball League is currently accepting new teams for the 2013 season. The season runs from April to August, with a kickoff tournament, about 25 regular-season games and a postseason tournament. All games are played at Marty Snook Park.
