HAGERSTOWN —
It was 16-6 after the first period, but South held only a 26-16 lead at the half despite North’s Crystal McLeod riding the bench after getting her second personal foul halfway through the first quarter.“Losing McLeod really hurt us a lot,” said North coach Cindy Miller. “She’s one player that can finish. We’re very young and still trying to get to know everyone and what everyone else can do. We’ll work hard in practice and get better.”
After Naylor had a talk with his team at halftime, the Rebels came out and went on a 15-0 run in the third quarter to salt away the game.
“We thought we could just come out and win by 30 without trying,” Naylor said. “We’ll learn that we’re going to be everyone’s best shot.”
Katrice Dickson led South with 18 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds.
McLeod managed a game-high 20 points for the Hubs, including nine in the final quarter.
