College hockey tournament
The Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference women’s tournament continues today at the Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex with six games.
Action begins at 8 a.m. with the Division I fifth-place game between No. 5 American University and the loser of Friday’s late game between No. 3 Virginia and No. 6 Maryland.
At 9:45, top-seeded Slippery Rock — featuring Alli Zube of Williamsport — plays No. 4 Indiana (Pa.), followed by No. 2 Villanova and No. 3 U.S. Naval Academy at 1 p.m. Ella Starr of Chambersburg, Pa., plays for Navy. Both Zube and Starr played in the Hagerstown Bulldogs youth program.
The Division I teams return at 4:30, with top-seeded West Chester playing the lowest remaining D-I seed. No. 2 seed Delaware plays the highest surviving D-I seed at 6:30. At 10, the two losing D-II teams face off in the third-place game.
Play picks up again on Sunday with the D-I third-place game at 9:30 a.m., the D-II championship game at 11:30 and the D-I championship game at 4 p.m.
There will be public skates at 3 and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, giving fans the opportunity to skate with the players.
