FREDERICK, Md. — Ryne Willard hit the game-winning two-run home run to lead Funkstown Post 211 to a 6-4 win over Frederick in a Western Maryland District game on Tuesday.
Ty Benson had two hits, including a home run, for Funkstown (5-1, 3-1). J.T. Root went the distance to earn the win.

PREP BASEBALL
Team Maryland splits pair at Heartland Classic
NORMAN, Okla. — Connor Arnone had a single, a walk and scored a run for Team Maryland in a 12-4 loss to Oklahoma, which broke open a three-run game with five runs in the sixth inning.
Maryland bounced back in its second game Tuesday as Zach Morris of DeMatha pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts in an 8-0 win over Arizona in a game shortened to five innings due to the eight-run rule.
Travis Phelps (Thomas Johnson) had a walk, stolen base and scored a run and Arnone had a single, two walks and scored two runs for Maryland (1-1), which turned three double plays.
