Pros miss PNC berth

POTOMAC FALLS, Va. — Beaver Creek Country Club professional Dirk Schultz and Fountain Head Country Club professional Jim Schouller each missed out on gaining a berth in the PNC National Championship next June.

After a 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday in the second round of the Middle Atlantic PGA Championship at Trump National, Schultz shot a final-round 4-over 76 at Trump National’s Championship Course on Wednesday and finished in a tie for 36th place. His total for three rounds was 8-over 224.

Schouller, after a 1-under 71 in the opening round, shot a 79 on Tuesday, but his 150 total was good enough to make the cut for the final round. He ended with a 75 for a 225 total and a tie for 42nd place.

David Hutsell, from the Elkridge Club and the current PNC Champion, led the field with an 8-under 208.
