KENSINGTON, Md. — Einstein (6-10-1) defeated North Hagerstown on penalty kicks, 3-0, to break a scoreless tie in the first round of the Maryland Class 3A West tournament.
Emily Smith had eight saves for the Hubs (5-10-1).

ST. JAMES — Kierston Sydnor had three goals and an assist to lead Mercersburg Academy past Saint James on Thursday as the Blue Storm tied their program record for most wins in a regular season at 11.
Brittany Burg had two goals, and Nina McIntosh and Lena Braeuninger each added one for Mercersburg.
Kate Zeber and Margaret Bacon each had a goal and Lena Tilsworth had an assist for Saint James (4-4-1).

ANNANDALE, Va. — Emma Stahl had 12 kills and 20 digs to lead Hagerstown in a 32-30, 25-13, 25-21 sweep of Northern Virginia on Thursday.
Cortney Silvis and Elise Manning each had 11 kills and three blocks, Brittany Skrutski had seven kills and four blocks and Paige Kitchen had 43 assists for the Hawks (22-7).

Octoberfest postponed at Hagerstown Speedway
This weekend’s 24th annual Verizon Wireless Octoberfest 350 at Hagerstown Speedway was postponed due to weather.
The event will be held Nov. 12-13.
