CUMBERLAND, Md. — Adler Garrett scored two goals to lift Smithsburg over Allegany 3-1 on Tuesday in the Maryland Class 1A West quarterfinals.
Haroon Pasha added a goal for the Leopards (6-9), while Tanner Bachtell had three assists and Nick Porter made eight saves.
Dakota Bierman scored for Allegany, which outshot Smithsburg, 16-9.
The Leopards will travel to top seed Mountain Ridge for a semifinal game later this week.
Mountain Ridge 2, Clear Spring 1
FROSTBURG, Md. — Chris Ranker scored on an assist by Jacob Kyle in the fifth minute of overtime as Mountain Ridge avoided an upset against Clear Spring in the Maryland Class 1A West quarterfinals.
The Blazers (6-8-1) had a 1-0 halftime lead after Ralph Weaver’s goal in the 11th minute.
The Miners (14-1) tied the game on Kyle’s header off a corner kick in the 76th minute.
Levi Bucher made four saves for Clear Spring.
Einstein 2, North Hagerstown 0
KENSINGTON, Md. — Max Ober made four saves for the Hubs (11-5-1) in a Maryland Class 3A West quarterfinal loss to Einstein.
Georgetown Day 7, Saint James 2
WASHINGTON — Seung Gon Yoo scored two goals for Saint James (1-15-1) in a Mid-Atlantic Conference tournament loss to Georgetown Day School.
Mercersburg 2, George School 1
NEWTOWN, Pa. — John Prybil scored the winning goal on an assist by Vini Nobrega to lead Mercersburg Academy past George School in the first round of PAISAA state tournament.
Alfred Hylton-Dei also scored for the Blue Storm (10-6-1).
Smithsburg 4, Mountain Ridge 0
FROSTBURG, Md. — Four different players scored for Smithsburg as the Leopards blanked defending region champion Mountain Ridge in the Maryland Class 1A West quarterfinals.
Smithsburg (5-9-1) will travel to Northern Garrett for a semifinal game Thursday at 7 p.m.
Rachel Poffenberger, Vanessa Cuevas, Kaitlyn Fauntleroy and Gabrielle Reason found the net for Smithsburg. Erica Hargreaves and Justyna Jordan each had two assists. Corinne Burk made nine saves for the shutout.
The Leopards outshot the Miners 14-9.
Liberty 3, Williamsport 1
SYKESVILLE, Md. — Casey Arnone scored the lone Wildcats goal on an assist from Regan Stout as Williamsport fell to Liberty in a Maryland Class 2A West quarterfinal.
Julia Price made eight saves for the Wildcats (10-6-1).
Liberty 3, Boonsboro 1
BOONSBORO — Shelby Wallace had 17 assists, 11 digs and four kills for Boonsboro in a 25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 25-14 loss to Liberty.
Sydney Parks had eight kills and six blocks, Aurelie King had six kills and three blocks, Tiffany Rohrer had 18 digs and two aces, Amber Myers had 13 digs and two aces, and Shelby Griffith had nine assists, six digs and two aces for the Warriors (6-8).

Indians go 1-1 in sectional
FRANKFORT, W.Va. — Berkeley Springs defeated Petersburg, 20-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 16-14 in the semifinals, but lost to Frankfort 25-20, 25-15, 25-5 in the championship match of the AA Region II Section 1 tournament.
In the semifinal, Toni Davison had six aces and six kills, Erin Close had 10 kills, Casey Solomon had six kills and Brooklyn McCusker added 17 assists.
In the final, McCusker had 11 assists, Close had seven kills and Natalie Redick added 17 assists for the Indians (10-9).

Mercersburg 6, Springside 1
MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Kiersten Sydnor had three goals and an assist to lead Mercersburg Academy past Springside in the opening round of the PAISAA Tournament.
Brittany Burg, Natalie Burkardt and Paige Richardson rounded out the scoring and Syd Godbey made 14 saves for the Blue Storm.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Meg Kenny had 10 kills, seven digs and three blocks to lead Shepherd University to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-21 sweep of Wilmington University (19-9).
Lauren Jeschelnik had 23 assists and 11 digs, Melani Lewis had seven kills and Taylor Belella added 10 digs for the Rams (16-14).

Tessa Jones and Elizabeth Wise combined on three saves for Shepherd University (8-8-2) in a West Virginia Conference Tournament quarterfinal loss to Charleston (6-9-2) at Mike Callas Stadium on Monday.
