THURMONT, Md. — Jordan Fortson had a game-high 26 points, five rebounds and four steals to lead Smithsburg to a 77-54 win over Catoctin (3-17, 2-12) in an MVAL Antietam Conference game on Friday night.

Trent Springs had 19 points, including two 3-pointers, four assists and six steals and Devaughn Wynne had two 3-pointers for the Leopards (15-5, 11-3).

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — Juwan Powell and Chris Shields stepped forward when Musselman tried to shut down Hedgesville’s top options to lead the Eagles to victory.

Powell hit two of his three 3s in the second quarter and Shields added a pair of putbacks to ignite Hedgesville’s 24-4 second quarter for a 39-8 halftime lead. Musselman (6-12) geared its defense to stop Q.J. Peterson, Hedgesville’s leading scorer, but he still finished with a game-high 23.

Peterson scored nine in the second period before scoring the other 14 in the third quarter.

Powell added 14 for the Eagles (14-4).

BRIEF

Youth soccer camps

The Hagerstown Soccer Club is offering a soccer academy for boys and girls ages 4 to 7. The academy begins April 3 at the HSC complex on Cearfoss Pike and runs for eight weeks from 5:30-7 p.m. Cost is $25 per player, which includes a soccer ball and shirt.

The club will also be hosting a goalkeeping clinic on March 3 from 9 to 11a.m. for ages 10 to 14 and 1 to 3 p.m. for ages 15 and up, and an offensive skills clinic March 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. for ages 10-14 and 1 to 3 p.m. for ages 15 and up.
