St. Maria Goretti and the Hagerstown Soccer Club hosted a free goalkeepers clinic for players on U14 and under teams (this picture) and U15-U18 teams on Saturday. Coaches included Tristan Longnecker, Rick Aleshire, Dave Tennant, Roy Rickerds, Zach Newman, Mark Barone, Lance Nigh, Austin Longnecker and Scott Garling. Trainers included Goretti's Joseph Theis, Daniel Lopes, Mitch Swope, John Winalski, Drew Katrina, Darrick Brown, Thomas Blake and Alanna Longnecker, Hagerstown Revolution's Brandon Zamora and Kofi Owusu, and EPIC Soccer Club's Maggie Nevin, Lauree Lorenson, Ashley Warfield, Angeles Dixon and Erin Buchanan. Trojans place three into PIAA quarterfinals

HERSHEY, Pa. — Chambersburg’s Tanner Shoap (113 pounds), Garrett Hammond (145) and Dawson Peck (285) all won their first-round matches Thursday at the PIAA Class AAA state tournament to advance to today’s quarterfinals.

Shoap won by decision, Hammond by major decision and Peck by pin.

Berkeley Springs 67, Lincoln 45

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Zack Wise hit four 3-pointers en route to 16 points for Berkeley Springs in a West Virginia Class AA Region II final victory over Lincoln (5-20). 

Derrick Cowles had 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and Brady Spielman added 13 points for the Indians (14-11), who outscored Lincoln 32-18 in the first half.

Berkeley Springs earned a spot in the Class AA state tournament, beginning Wednesday.
