PREP TRACK & FIELD
PHILADELPHIA — Boonsboro senior J.R. Lowery placed seventh out of 19 competitors in the boys shot put Friday at the 118th annual edition of the prestigious Penn Relays.
Lowery, the defending Maryland Class 1A state champion, unleashed a throw of 56 feet, 4 3/4 inches for a new personal best.
Also Friday, Chambersburg placed third in its heat of the boys 4x800-meter relay in 7:56.15 to qualify for today’s Championship of America. The Trojans’ team was comprised of Nick Rotz, Adam Harriger, Aaron Powell and Ryun Holder.

Nick Hill had two hits and three RBIs for the Blazers (9-5), while Brett Mentzer had two hits and two RBIs, Ryan Aaron added two hits and Forrest Williamson pitched six solid innings for the win.
Scott Hessler had two hits for the Indians (11-12).

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Amanda Wink pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and Greencastle-Antrim defeated Big Spring to take sole possesion of first place in the Mid-Penn Colonial.

Ellie Clark had a goal and two assists for the Blue Storm (3-7), while Hannah Warfield had a goal and an assist and Alyson Kinney, Gabby Cuzzola and Meredith Wallace each added a goal.
COLLEGE GOLF
HCC wins conference title
ABERDEEN, Md. — Hagerstown Community College won the Maryland JuCo Conference championship, which was contested at Ruggles Golf Course at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds.
HCC carded 332 as a team, one shot better than Harford Community College.
Zach Weber led the Hawks with a 75, Dave Daubach shot an 81, Jason Long shot an 83 and Matt Snowden had a 93. Weber and Daubach earned first-team honors.
