Trojans set Tri-State records

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Chambersburg athletes set a pair of all-time Tri-State area records at the Mid-Penn Conference championships, hosted by Chambersburg on Saturday.

The Trojans’ Marshay Ryan won the girls triple jump with a mark of 40 feet, 5 inches, breaking the previous Tri-State record of 39-10 1/4 that she set earlier this season.

Chambersburg’s Nick Rotz, Adam Harriger, Aaron Powell and Ryun Holder broke the Tri-State record in the boys 4x800-meter relay with their second-place time of 7:50.05. The previous record was 7:50.70, set by Chambersburg in 2007.

Cumberland Valley won Saturday’s 4x800 in 7:49.61.

Ryan also won the girls long jump Saturday with a leap of 18-7 1/2, falling just short of the Tri-State record she set in that event last year (18-8 3/4).

Chambersburg also got victories from Natalie Holder in the girls 800 (2:15.61) and Kellen Williams in the boys 300 hurdles (38.70) as both turned in area-best performances for this season.
