CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — Ryan Pansch pitched a four-hit shutout with one walk and eight strikeouts, leading the Patriots over the Cougars in the West Virginia Class AAA Region II Section 1 playoffs.
Jared Silva had two hits and an RBI for Washington. Colin Gustines, Austin Larcomb and Dorian Hetzel each had a hit and an RBI.
Andrew King had two hits for Jefferson (24-9).

Stephanie O’Brien scored two goals and fourth-seeded Heritage Academy upset top seed New Life Christian in the semifinals of the Mason Dixon Christian Conference tournament.
Callie Butts had an assist and Rachel Clarke made 13 saves to record the shutout in goal for the Eagles (8-4-2).
Heritage advanced to play the Calvary/Shalom winner in the championship game at CVCS on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
